As the world adapts to a new normal, the workplace will need to evolve to embrace social distancing measures, remote working and increased levels of sanitisation. Import Services, like many other companies with Global networks has adjusted on many fronts as we prepare to return to the workplace.
Throughout the Pandemic our priority is always to keep everyone as safe as possible.
Import Services implemented a phased ‘Work from home plan’ for all applicable teams, as we approached Lock-Down in March.
Our agile IT team supported this transition ensuring each team member had access to emails, servers and software to work from home, as effectively as possible.
Our warehouses have remained operational, although even with such a significant floor area, it is necessary to implement working practices which protect our staff against CV-19 and this need is at a significant on-cost .
Temperature testing, staggered breaks, intensive cleaning regimes and extending shift patterns have been adopted swiftly; all measures involve segregation of the workforce to ensure we remain within HMG guidelines for teams respecting social distancing on the floor while working together. 6am-2pm / 2pm–10pm shifts have been put in place to process orders typically handled by a single shift before CV-19, just to enable order cycle times to maintain serviceability and meet our Clients’ supply chain needs.
Further investment to maintain workflow include plans to introduce Perspex separators at work benches, to enhance safety measures.
Our warehouse offers staff access to face masks, gloves and hand sanitisers at each work station.
