Our new site for Import Services London Gateway is now operational, with both 3PL and cross docking activities under way. Racking for 18,000 locations is also in progress, with new Clients scheduled to move into the state of the art, port-centric site, over the next three months.
Import Services is the operator and manager of the logistics centre on behalf of DP World London Gateway which is the UK’s first purpose built 21st Century major deep-sea container port, adjacent to Europe’s largest designated logistics park.
Elsewhere on the 9 million sq ft logistics park, phase one of the infrastructure and trunk roads, which comprises the main dual carriage way running east to west through the park, is nearly finished while construction work on the neighbouring development plot is also underway.
Mike Thomas, Import Services’ client services director said “This is a very exciting time for Import Services and we are looking forward to operating the London Gateway Logistics Centre. This will enable us to implement our twin port strategy offering the wider market a range of services from devanning to cross docking, storage and value added activities such as high volume order processing, pick-and-pack, reworking, pre-retail and distribution.”
Import Services will provide a menu of logistics services and activities on a ‘pay-as-you-go’ basis.
“Our port-centric model has been developed based on market demand directly from cargo owners seeking to take advantage of the port-centric and market-centric benefits enabled via London Gateway,” said Mike.
