The Import Services Forklift Competition!
Now entering its 6th year, Import Services’ skilled forklift drivers compete in a series of challenges, designed to test their ability to control their machines.
Involving all warehouses, the three day event culminates in the top 2 drivers competing against each other for the ultimate prize. The event is open to both Flexi and Ergo Mover operators who compete in separate competitions, this year it coincided with National Forklift Safety day on the 10th June.
The competition is run by our OSDG and support team; Pat Keegan, Mark Frier and Charmaine Liddle who work incredibly hard to make the event fun for all.
Flexi
The first round for the Flexi Drivers was a Q&A session, whereby the drivers used a forklift to mark a cross in the answer box using a pen attached to the forks.
The second round was a skills based challenge tasking them to navigate a tight course with the added drama of competing against the clock.
Below are the runner ups going into the final day with the eventual winner Dean McNamara (orange hi vis) and runner up Tom Mokrzynski (third from the left).
Ergo Mover
This was again skills based and the competitors used a poll to collect rings from different areas of the warehouse, much like a medieveil jouster!
Below is winner Wayne Parfitt (far right) runner up Anthony Sibley (far left).
Stuart Turner, Import Services Operations Support Group Manager, comments, “This has grown to be a very enjoyable event which staff genuinely look forward to. It’s also a tremendous demonstration of skilled driving that operators put into practice every day they come to work. It’s not easy operating our machinery and we hold all staff to the very highest standards.”
